Directions:
From the east: Take I-80 to the Merle Hay Road Exit (131) and proceed south on Merle Hay Road. Take a right, turning west on Aurora Avenue. Travel to the intersection of 70th and Aurora Avenue. Urbandale High School will be on your right. Travel west to 86th street, turning left. The Country Club will be on the right.
From the west: Take I-80 to the 86th Street Exit (129) and proceed south on 86th Street to Aurora Avenue (2nd stoplight). Travel past Aurora Avenue and the Country Club will be on the right.

Golf Course Description
Urbandale Golf and Country Club is a challenging and fun golf
course to play on a daily basis. The wide fairways beautifully
lined with large trees and small greens present a challenge for the
expert to the beginner. A meandering creek flows through four
holes with a beautiful pond framing the finishing hole, which will
provide plenty of water as an obstacle.
If you like fast greens you will love the speed of these greens.
They are traditionally fast with many interesting pin positions.
This 45 year old golf course has a relaxing atmosphere within the
confines of the city of Urbandale. Occasionally wildlife can be
seen on the course, which adds to the relaxing atmosphere of the 78
acres. So whether you are a beginner or an expert, you will enjoy
the challenge of our well maintained golf course.
Hole-by-Hole Description
#1 Nice
starting hole. A dogleg to the left with an elevated green. Trouble
left of the trees. Right center fairway is desirable. Hit enough
club for your second shot.
#2 Excellent
par 5. Drive needs to be on the left side of fairway. Trees right
and left. Lay up area short of creek is at the bottom of hill. Big
hitters can try to go over creek in two. Most players will have a
downhill second shot. Third shot to elevated green which is one of
the deepest on the course.
#3 Straight
away par 4 with Out of Bounds to the right. Trees to left. Left
center is the desirable spot to play from. Narrow green with
bunkers left and along the green. Better to be short than long over
this green.
#4 Well
guarded par 3 with bunkers short, right and left. Better to use one
more club than normal as green is elevated and deep.
#5 Straight
away par 4 with elevated tee and elevated green. Wide fairway with
a second shot on an upslope to the green. Use more club for your
second shot as the green is severely elevated. A high second shot
will help on this hole to stop on this crowned green.
#6 Short
but dangerous. Dogleg left with Out of Bounds to the left and trees
right. A fairway wood off the tee is the desirable shot as a short
shot into this crowned green is needed. Bunkers left and right
provide a small opening to this crowned green. Green has many
undulations which make putting a challenge.
#7 Best
par 4 on the golf course. Elevated tee to a flat landing area at
the bottom of hill. Trees left and right. Tee shot needs to be
center or left center in fairway. Green is severely elevated over a
creek. A high shot is required so take more club. Anything short
will come back down the hill front of the green. Wide but narrow
green.
#8 Short
but interesting Par 5. Fairway slopes to left giving players a
difficult lie for the second shot. Ideal spot is off tee to right
side of the fairway. Long hitters will try to get to the green in 2
but a nice landing flat area about 100 to 140 yards out from the
green will be desired for most. Severe green, try to stay below the
hole.
#9 Interesting
and fun hole to finish. 2 greens are used, one for the front 9 and
one for the back 9. You must carry water on both holes to difficult
greens to putt. Always use enough club and a high shot is desired.
Try to stay below the hole as above usually ends up as a 3
putt.
