Urbandale Welcomes Three New Head Coaches

With the consent of the Board of Directors of the Urbandale Community School District on Monday evening, three individuals were named to the vacant Head Coaching positions at Urbandale High School.  Jimmy Frizzell was named Head Boys Soccer Coach, Jason Eckhoff was named Head Girls Soccer Coach, and Jeremy Heinen was named Head Baseball Coach.

 

Jimmy Frizzell – Head Boys Soccer Coach

Frizzell becomes the fifth Head Boys Soccer Coach in school history.  The Simpson College graduate will take over for Kepler Johnson who left the program in May. 

 

Frizzell has spent the last eight years at Johnston as an Assistant Coach and he has been on the staff at Simpson College, working with the Men’s’ Soccer Team since August, 2011.

 

Frizzell teaches Special Education in the Des Moines Public Schools and resides in Urbandale.

 

Jason Eckhoff – Head Girls Soccer Coach

Eckhoff comes to Urbandale after having spent the past 17 seasons as an Assistant Coach at Valley High School.  During that time, Valley qualified for the State Soccer Tournament twelve times and won six titles.  He has also been the Head Girls Bowling Coach at Valley for nine years and was named Conference Coach of the Year twice.

 

Eckhoff is the third Head Girls Soccer Coach in school history; he resides in Urbandale and teaches in the West Des Moines Community School District.

 

Jeremy Heinen – Head Baseball Coach

Heinen takes over for Coach Denny Barton following his retirement following the 2015 season.  He is a teacher at Urbandale High School and spent the past twelve seasons on the baseball staff at Urbandale High School in various roles.  Heinen was the Head Baseball Coach at Saydel High School from 2001-2003.

 

Heinen, a University of Iowa graduate where he played for the Hawkeyes, resides in Urbandale.
