Urbandale Enters New Era in CIML

Urbandale Enters New Era in CIML

With the start of the 2016-2017, Urbandale begins a new journey in conference alignment within the 18-team Central Iowa Metropolitan League.

In February 2015, Indianola’s made the decision to leave the CIML and the league was reconfigured.  Gone are the Central Iowa Conference and the Metro Conference as we knew them and back, after four years, are the Central, Iowa, and Metro Conference.  Each conference will be comprised of six teams until the 2021-2022 school year when Waukee’s second high school enters the league.

Throughout this cycle, Urbandale will be grouped with Johnston and Dowling Catholic as it rotates through the Iowa Conference and Central Conference.  The Metro Conference, featuring DM East, DM Hoover, DM Lincoln, DM North, DM Roosevelt, and Ottumwa will remain static throughout the six year cycle.

During the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school years, Urbandale will compete in the Iowa Conference.  Other teams in this conference include:  Dowling Catholic, Fort Dodge, Johnston, Marshalltown, and Mason City.

During the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years, Urbandale will compete in the Central Conference.  Other teams in this conference include:  Ames, Ankeny, Ankeny Centennial, Dowling Catholic, and Johnston

And in the final two years of the rotation, 2020-2021 and 2021-2022, Urbandale will compete in the Central Conference again.  During this two-year rotation, the other schools will include:  Dowling Catholic, Johnston, Southeast Polk, Waukee, and Valley.  In 2021-2022, the second high school from the Waukee School District will be added.
