The Urbandale Girls Basketball Team opened the 2016-2017 season with a 72-10 victory over DM North on Tuesday night in the South Gym.

The J-Hawks wore their "road" Blue Uniforms in recognition of the tragedy that took the lives of Urbandale Police Officer Justin Martin and Des Moines police Sgt. Tony Beminio and to honor both men and fans from both teams to wore Blue in honor of both individuals and in support of the Urbandale and Des Moines Police Departments.
