It was the 2024 home opener for the Urbandale J-Hawks (3-2) at Barton Field in Urbandale. The field took on a lot of water overnight as severe storms rolled through the Des Moines area. Barton Field had a lot of water on the field in the morning, and the wind screens were torn off, but the players, coaches, and staff worked tirelessly to get the field ready. The Bulldogs from Bettendorf came into town with a 2-2 record. 

The J-Hawk bats came to play as they scored 9 runs on 10 hits to beat the Bulldogs 9-8.

There are more threats of rain on Friday, so the J-Hawks are tentatively scheduled to play the Lewis Central Titans on May 24th.
