J-Hawks Compete in Jack North Invite

The Urbandale J-Hawk (9-9, 3-3) softball team was on the road this weekend in Waukee playing in the Jack North Invitational hosted by Waukee Northwest. The J-Hawks got to face some new teams as 3 of the 4 were from Eastern Iowa and the 4th was St. Edmunds from Fort Dodge which is a 1A school.

 

Friday, June 14th Highlights:

  • In game 1, the J-Hawks took on the Linn-Mar Lions (8-10). The Urbandale offense exploded for 11 runs and Morgan Barry settled in after giving up a run in the first inning. The final score was 11-1 for a J-Hawk victory.
  • In game 2, the J-Hawks faced off against the Bettendorf Bulldogs (7-9). It was a close one throughout as the J-Hawks ended up on top by a score of 6-5.

Saturday, June 15th Highlights:

  • In game 3, the J-Hawks took on the Iowa City City High Little Hawks (5-11). The Little Hawks have been a traditionally strong team, so this was a great win for the J-Hawks. The final was 7-0.
  • In game 4, the J-Hawks faced off against the St. Edmunds Gaels (11-3). The J-Hawks dominated on offnese, rattling off 16 hits! The final was 9-2.

 

The J-Hawks will back at Gary Page field on Monday, June 17th for a Varsity doubleheader against the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers.
