J-Hawks Split With State Runner-Up Ames

The Urbandale J-Hawks (11-11, 4-9) were at Barton Field in Urbandale to take on the defending State Tournament Runner-Up, Ames Little Cyclones (12-12) on June 14, 2024. This was a makeup date from a rainout on May 21. Urbandale has dominated the historical series, winning 21 of 25 matchups.

In Game 1, the J-Hawks started Clayton Renfrew on the mound. He threw 6 innings of 1 run baseball. The Cyclones made it interesting in the 7th by getting the tying run to third, but Luke Karaidos threw out the runner at home to end the game. The final was 4-3.

In Game 2, the J-Hawks started Jordan Sturdivant on the mound. The offense started early for the J-Hawks but they couldn't keep it going and Ames was able to jump on the Urbandale pitchers. The final score was 3-11.

With the split, the J-Hawks move to 12-12 on the season. Urbandale is scheduled to host Johnston for Senior Night on Wednesday, June 19th.
