Frerichs Scholarship Recipients Announced

The Urbandale Booster Club Frerichs’ Scholarship is presented in honor of Denny Frerichs, Football coach at Urbandale High School from 1967 to 1994.  The Urbandale Booster Club annually awards one senior male and one senior female with a one time, $500.00 scholarship.  Students are evaluated by a panel of individuals on their academic profile, involvement in high school athletics, involvement in community activities, and the recommendations of others. 

This year's recipients are Maddie Carver and Trevor Miller. 
 

Maddie Carver

The daughter of Matt and Renee Carver, is the 2017 Female Recipient of the Urbandale Booster Club, Frerichs’ Scholarship Award.  Maddie is the current Student Body President, an FCA Leader, and a member of Emerging Leaders, and Key Club.  Maddie has been active in Volleyball, earning 1st team All-Conference this past season and Honorable Mention All-Division in 2014 and 2015.  She qualified for the State Track Meet in 2014, 2015, and 2016, and was an Elite All-State Selection as a member of the 2015 4x800 Meter Relay Team.  In Soccer, she earned Honorable Mention All-Division in 2016 and was a member of the 2015 State Qualifying Softball Team.  Maddie plans to attend a four-year college with an undecided major after high school.

 

Trevor Miller

Trevor Miller is the 2017 Male Recipient of the Urbandale Booster Club, Frerichs’ Scholarship Award.  Trevor is a three-year letterwinner in Soccer and Cross Country and he will earn his second letter in Basketball this season.  Trevor was an All-Western Division selection in Soccer both in 2015 and 2016 and a 2nd Team All-Central Iowa Conference Selection in 2016; in Basketball he earned Honorable Mention All-Western Division last season.  A Team Captain in both Soccer and Basketball, Trevor is a member of the Honor Roll, the National Honor Society, the National Council on Youth Leadership, and is active in the Silver Cord Program; he earned Academic All-Conference in each sport.  Trevor, the son of Bruce and Kimm Miller, plans to attend a four-year college and study Business after high school.
