The Urbandale Booster Club Frerichs’ Scholarship is presented in honor of Denny Frerichs, Football coach at Urbandale High School from 1967 to 1994. The Urbandale Booster Club annually awards a one time, $500.00 scholarship. Students are evaluated by a panel of individuals on their academic profile, involvement in high school athletics, involvement in community activities, and the recommendations of others.

Brooke Dannenfeldt is the 2019 Recipient of the Award.  Brooke is the daughter of Steve and Amy Dannenfeldt. Brooke is a four-year letterwinner in Volleyball and earned Academic All-State and 1st Team All-Conference in 2018, 2nd Team All-Conference in 2017 and Honorable Mention All-Conference in 2016. Brooke has also participated in Basketball where she was a two-year letterwinner, and Tennis, where she is a three-year letterwinner and finished 3rd Place in the State Doubles Tournament in 2018, 5th in 2017 and 13th in 2016. She also was named Honorable Mention All-Iowa in 2018 by the Des Moines Register for her accomplishments on the Tennis court. Brooke has also been honored with Academic All-Conference in each sport she has participated in. In addition, she has been active in Band (three-year letterwinner), Choir (one-year letterwinner) and a member of the Show Choir Band. She is a four-year Honor Roll member and has participated in Emerging Leaders, J-Hawk Foundations, Connections Committee, National Council on Youth Leadership and National Honor Society. Brooke plans to attend the University of Iowa to major in Pre-Occupational Therapy after high school.
