The J-Hawks of 2000 delivered Urbandale Baseball’s first State Championship, ending their season with an astonishing 21 game winning streak. The team was given a scare in the final game against Marshalltown when the Bobcats took a 3 run lead. The J-Hawks were quick to come back with a home run by Blake Schultz scoring 2 runs. Urbandale tied the score in the 6th and never turned back, defeating the Bobcats 5-4, seizing Championship honors from the home team. “We set a goal in the beginning, and took it one game at a time. Before we knew it we were on our way to Marshalltown and had won 18 straight,” said Drew Mettille.
