Pending approval by the Board of Directors on Monday, May 8, 2023, Clay Thielking will be named the next Head Boys Basketball Coach at Urbandale High School.
Thielking is no stranger to the Urbandale bench. He coached as an Assistant for the J-Hawks in the 2020-2021 season and played for Coach Brad Bjorkgren, graduating in 1994. He led the Lakewood, Colorado boys' program for four seasons, taking the team to two state tournament appearances before taking over at Columbine High School. There he led the boys' program to seven state tournament appearances. Thielking spent the last two seasons as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Dowling Catholic High School.
Thielking becomes the 13th Head Boys Basketball Coach in Urbandale High School history and replaces Jon Schmitz.
