Brimeyer Named Outstanding Choral Director for High School / Post-Secondary Schools

Urbandale High School Vocal Music Director Ted Brimeyer was named the inaugural recipient of the Iowa Choral Director’s Outstanding Choral Director for High School/Post-Secondary Schools.

The Iowa Choral Directors Association announced the awards on Monday, May 9, 2022.

Established in 2022, this award recognizes individuals whose work in programs at the experienced and advanced level is exemplary.  The ICDA listed these criteria on its website for consideration: 

  • The candidate must be a current ICDA member with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Work at the High School / Post-Secondary level must exhibit the qualities of a master teacher. 
  • Nominees who have fostered program growth, high performance standards, musical knowledge, community engagement, and who are committed to mentoring those planning careers in music will be given strong consideration. 
  • This person will be an active presence in the life of ICDA and its membership.
