After approval by the Board of Directors for the Urbandale Community School District on February 5, 2024, Mel Green, Jr. has been named the new Head Girls Cross Country Coach at Urbandale High School. 

Green is no stranger to the Track and Field community in Iowa.  He served as a long-time coach in the Des Moines Public School District and later as the Athletic Director at Hoover High School. Green also serves as Urbandale's Head Girls Track and Field Coach.

Green takes over for David Roney, who resigned after the 2023 season.
